History

Founding

Originally chartered in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1929 IUEC Local 91 is currently headquartered in East Hartford, Connecticut. Local 91 was founded at a time when urban expansion was underway in Connecticut and professionals were needed to ensure elevators were installed, repaired, and maintained professionally. As Connecticut grew, so too did Local 91, and Local 91 constructors made a marked contribution to the overall growth of the area.

Since our humble beginnings in 1902…

We are proud to say that Local 91 has grown steadily over the years, and today, more than 500 skilled professionals have passed through our doors as members. Our 210 retirees always took great pride in providing the population of Connecticut with the top-quality elevator construction services they needed. Today, our 315 members carry on that tradition, ensuring that the state’s needs are in safe hands.
